It was a relaxing atmosphere this past Saturday, as the rainy season is behind us and there was nothing but blues skies above for our painting session. Working with watercolor on paper, our participants had the choice of working with rice paper, or the 300lb cold-press paper. Each presents its own challenges - the rice paper tends to require a lighter touch, but results in a very vibrant color pallette from which you can also make impression paintings because of its thin weight. The 300lb cold press allows for multiple layers of washes, which results in a more 3-D rendering of objects. Some beautiful paintings were taken home today.
This Sunday, a private workshop was conducted for our guest, Evelyn, a creative tourist from Singapore who wanted an art experience as part of her travels to HCMC. Evelyn enjoyed the demonstration related to both rice paper and silk watercolor painting and tried her hand at both. It was an enjoyable and productive session, and we hope that Evelyn has a place to show off her artwork once she reaches home. Hope to see you again!
This Saturday, one of our past workshop attendants booked a special group workshop for 4 of their friends visiting from the UK. The guests were treated to a session in traditional Vietnamese watercolor on silk painting lesson, while also enjoying the sights and sounds of flowers, birds and beer typical of a Saturday afternoon in District 10! Thanks again to the group for making watercolor painting lots of fun. We hope you're back this way soon. |
